In December 2020, at the Department of Information Technology and Communications of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District (YNAD) facilities, training of representatives of the region's public authorities on the use of the Russian operating system RED OS was completed. The training was conducted within the framework of the YNAD regional project "Information Security".
The aim of the "Information Security" project is to increase the share of domestic software purchased and leased by the government authorities of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District to 90% by 2024. In 2020, RED SOFT supplied over 1,700 licenses for the RED OS operating system to state, municipal and commercial organizations of the YNAD.
In two weeks, 50 IT specialists from the government sector of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District mastered the principles of work with the RED OS operating system. The training program was compiled taking into account the peculiarities of the region's information infrastructure; in particular, the course included practical recommendations on configuring the add-on information security tools (ViPNet, Dallas Lock). The training took place in two tracks: basic and advanced administration. The course included theoretical and practical sessions. At the last stage, the future administrators of the RED OS confirmed the knowledge they had acquired by passing a test consisting of 11 laboratory works and a final exam.
RED OS is a Russian Linux family operating system for servers and workstations, that provides a universal environment for application software. The product is certified by the FSTEC of Russia (№4060 of 12.01.2019), that confirms its compliance with information security requirements and allows its use in government information systems. RED OS is registered in the Unified Register of Russian Software and Databases of the Ministry of Communications of Russia (No.3751).
"Every day the process of import substitution covers more and more spheres of our life, including the sphere of information technology. For the successful implementation of the software in the district, we invited developers who trained our specialists to work with the RED OS system. Today, not all Russian developments are so popular among users as compared to their foreign analogues, but they have a good potential for that. I am deeply convinced that success depends on active use of our products, which is what we are working on", Kirill Albychev, Director of the Department of Information Technology and Communications of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, said.
"The Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District is among the regions that decided to be the first to switch to domestic software. We are already actively running projects in the YNAD, so we understand that the implementation of new software must be comfortable. To do this, creating a quality product is not enough. It's critically important to train new users how to work with it. We thank our colleagues for their professionalism and interest!", Rustam Rustamov, Deputy RED SOFT CEO, commented.
