"Baikal Electronics", the developer of Russian Baikal family processors and the RED SOFT, a domestic IT solutions maufacturer and services supplier, announced the expansion of cooperation between Russian hardware and software manufacturers.
"RED SOFT", the developer of RED OS, has confirmed successful testing of its product for the compatibility with the ARMv8 processor architecture, to which the domestic processor Baikal-M developed by "Baikal Electronics" belongs.
RED OS is the Russian general-purpose Linux family operating system for servers and workstations. It is FSTEC of Russia certificate holder (cert. №4060 dated 12.01.2019) that confirms its compliance with information security requirements and allows its use in government information systems and personal data information systems up to class 1 inclusive. RED OS is registered in the Unified Register of Russian Software and Databases of the Ministry of Communications of Russia (№3751).
The Baikal-M is a 28 nm "on-chip" system based on eight 64-bit ARM cores Cortex-A57 (ARMv8-A; four clusters of two cores each) with up to 1.5 GHz frequency and an eight-core Mali-T628 graphics processor with up to 700 MHz frequency. The processor is already available for ordering and various partner devices based on it are being actively developed.
