On October 1 Moscow hosted RUSSIA OPEN SOURCE SUMMIT - a large-scale event with the participation of key Russian experts in the field of Open Source.
At the section "The State as a Customer. Are Governmental Agencies Ready for Large-Scale Implementation of Open Source Code?" Rustam Rustamov, deputy RED SOFT CEO, spoke. The experts discussed the usefulness of a more active utilization of OSS as a substitute for prioritized software. Maxim Parshin, Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, also took part in the discussion. The moderator was Valentin Makarov, President of RUSSOFT Association.
Roman Simakov, Director of System Products Development Department of RED SOFT, spoke at the session "Evolution of Open Source Development Culture in Universities". Experts discussed the creation and further development of competencies to support Open Source projects in Russia.
